The competition for the most beautiful Bulgarian postal issue for 2025 ended with good interest and activity from the philatelic community. 141 participants took part in the voting, who submitted a total of 423 votes . The richness of the themes and the variety of artistic solutions showed once again that Bulgarian philately remains alive, modern and inspiring. This year the competition was extremely strong, and the differences between the individual proposals were minimal, which makes the winners even more significant.First place was deservedly taken by the theme "Research Ships" with artist Petar Chuchuligov, which collected 46 votes (10.87%) . The block sheet with four postage stamps and a special seal impressed the voters with its dynamism, documentary value and respect for Bulgarian scientific expeditions. The composition combines a modern vision and precision, making the issue one of the strongest philatelic offerings of the year.
In second place was "200 Years of Public Rail Transport" , illustrated by Maglena Konstantinova, with 37 votes (8.75%) . The theme pays tribute to the development of railway infrastructure. The stamp and special seal carry the spirit of historical heritage, while emphasizing the importance of transport for social progress.
Third place was awarded to "Bulgarian Monasteries - 200 Years of the Restoration of the Preobrazhenski Monastery" , the work of artist Nevena Koleva, who received 30 votes (7.09%) . The publication impresses with its deep spiritual symbolism, attention to architectural details and respect for Bulgarian cultural memory. This topic traditionally attracts interest, and this year's performance stood out with its elegance and historical value.Among the outstanding proposals are several modern and emotional themes, which show the diversity of the audience's preferences. "Fauna - The Return of the Beaver to Bulgarian Rivers" and "50 Years of the Rainbow Group" each received 23 votes (5.44%) , demonstrating interest in both environmental causes and musical culture. The themes dedicated to great Bulgarian actors - Georgi Kaloyanchev and Georgi Partsalev - also found their place among the favorites, each with 22 votes (5.2%) .
It is noteworthy that the competition covers not only historical and cultural themes, but also international initiatives, children's creativity, ethnography and even exotic fruits. This diversity is evidence of the richness of the Bulgarian philatelic tradition and the willingness of artists to experiment with new ideas. Even the themes with a smaller number of votes – such as “Michelangelo”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Chinese New Year” or “Economics of Transport” – contribute to the overall picture of an extremely colorful and inspiring competition.
In conclusion, this year’s edition of the competition did not simply determine the most beautiful postal issue for 2025 – it showed that philately in Bulgaria continues to live, develop and inspire. Every voice, every theme and every artist are part of a common effort to preserve and promote this art. And the results of the competition are a clear sign that interest in postage stamps remains strong, and the future of philately – promising.
