Additional Information
The stamps were sold from September 12 to September 30, 1902 and were valid until September 30, 1902 for affixing letter correspondence only to the interior of Bulgaria, Russia and Serbia. 65-67 are printed with two types of photoclichés for each value, scattered throughout the printing form with almost equal repetition. The type has the following features: 5th column - under the letter "DN" with the inscription "D1EINOVO" there is a small line, and the bar of the number "5" of the nominal value is curved; 10th century - in the left corner of the ornament under the year "1902" (above, to the right of the stamp), there is a white spot; 15th cent. - the line of the right outer frame, under the letter "P" of "DECEMBER", is broken. Type II for all values lacks the indicated defects, and the birachet of the figure of the nominal value at 5th cent. is equal. From 65-67 there are also without serrations, as well as without serrations on one side, and from 66 - a pair, in between without perforation. The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the battles at the Shipka pass (the Shipka epic) are combined with the consecration of the temple-monument near the village of Shipka and took place from September 16 to 19, 1902. The series was actually intended to mark the exploits of the Bulgarian militia during the Russo-Turkish war in 1877, and therefore the dates of the three major battles of the Bulgarian militia with the Turkish troops: at the Shipka pass, Stara Zagora and Sheynovo. However, the picture of A. N. Popov was wrongly chosen for the stamp, as it shows the actions of the Russian soldiers at Orlovo Gnezdo, and not the Bulgarian militiamen. Corrections have been made in the picture depicted on the stamp, and some figures of participants have been removed.| BC № | Nominal | MNH | Used/CTO |
