ПревюThe World Philatelic Exhibition in Boston in 2026 became one of the most significant events of the past decade. For eight days, the city was filled with collectors, researchers, dealers and enthusiasts of postal history, who transformed the convention center in the Seaport District into a true territory of stamps. The exhibition proved that philately remains vibrant, dynamic and capable of attracting new generations.

The event offered more than a thousand exhibits from around the world, including rare collections, archival documents, classic issues and modern postal emissions. National postal administrations from dozens of countries presented their new products, while the United States Postal Service organized a series of premieres that drew the attention of visitors. Among them were issues dedicated to the American Revolution, the international exchange of postcards, symbols of peace and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. These new releases demonstrated how contemporary philately skillfully combines historical themes, artistic design and current social highlights.

One of the most impressive exhibitions was dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. It presented the development of the British postal system and the role of the monarchy in popularizing philately. Among the highlights were early classic issues, including the world’s first postage stamp - the Penny Black - as well as rare documents from the 19th century. The exhibition showed how stamps can serve not only as a means of communication but also as carriers of cultural memory, political symbolism and artistic heritage.

The Boston exhibition also demonstrated the strength of the philatelic community as a social phenomenon. Thousands of visitors from different countries exchanged experience, ideas and collectible materials. The commercial areas were filled with active transactions, and specialized auctions attracted attention with rare and valuable lots. Among them stood out examples of the legendary Inverted Jenny - one of the most famous philatelic errors, which continues to be a symbol of collecting passion.

Postcrossing
The Postcrossing community had its special place within the Boston 2026 World Expo. The meeting took place on May 26, the same day the new global stamps dedicated to the project were presented. This turned the event into a natural continuation of the idea of international postcard exchange and human connection through the mail. The hall designated for the meeting quickly filled with participants from various countries, who brought their postcards, special editions and thematic materials prepared specifically for the occasion.

The atmosphere was dynamic and friendly, as participants exchanged postcards, signatures and cancellations, and many of them presented small thematic collections. The meeting became a place for new acquaintances, where experienced postcrossers and new enthusiasts shared ideas for future initiatives, events and joint projects. Special postal cancellations and souvenir materials prepared for the exhibition attracted particular attention and quickly became sought-after mementos.

The organization of the meeting was at a high level, with clearly defined areas for exchange, photography and thematic presentations. Many participants used the opportunity to send postcards directly from the exhibition, stamped with unique postmarks available only during Boston 2026. This added extra value to the event and turned the meeting into one of the most memorable moments for the Postcrossing community this year.

The Postcrossing meeting in Boston showed that even in the digital age, the desire for human connection through traditional mail remains strong. Participants left with new friendships, filled albums and the feeling that part of the magic of philately lies in the small gestures that travel across the world in the form of postcards.
