Many people ask me where they can have their old postage stamps appraised and possibly bought back. There are several options for action in such cases.
Option 1:
You enter sites where stamps are sold. For Bulgarian stamps you can use philatelicmarket.com, and for foreign stamps, for example www.stampworld.com. There you will find sample prices of old postage stamps by year. Keep in mind that these prices are catalog prices. It is extremely rare that you will be able to sell at this value. Usually old postage stamps are bought for up to 50% of their catalog price. So, unless you have something extremely valuable, do not hope for a huge profit.

Option 2:
You can contact an appraiser of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists or the local Philatelic Societies (Varna, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Pleven, Shumen, Dobrich, Ruse, etc.). He will appraise your stamps for a good amount and possibly, if he is interested, buy all or part of them from you. In my opinion, this is not a good option (unless the stamps are very expensive), because the services of appraisers are not the cheapest, and for good reason. Appraising stamps requires you to be a professional and have been doing it for a long time.

Option 3:
You can sell your old stamps yourself on sites like ebay.com or www.delcampe.net, but keep in mind that these sites have their own commissions for each sale made, so you will have to set higher prices for your stamps to break even.

Option 4:
This is the option I personally chose, which is to keep my stamps and even increase my collection. Of course, this may only apply to you if you are interested in philately.

Of course, you can also combine the options :)
In closing, I will say that philately is a wonderful and beautiful hobby (despite all its shortcomings), which can bring you extremely wonderful moments and friends.
