Preview At a solemn ceremony in the building of the Central Post Office – Plovdiv, two special blocks and a postage stamp dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the first train journey on a public line were validated. The event brought together philatelists, enthusiasts and official guests, including Mr. Georgi Dechev and Stefan Stefanov – Chairman of the Plovdiv Philatelic Society.

Created by artist Maglena Konstantinova, the commemorative stamps marking the 200th anniversary of the first public train journey are not just philatelic issues, but a visual narrative of the beginning of an era. The composition combines historical authenticity with emotional atmosphere, transforming each stamp into a miniature scene from 1825.

The centerpiece, a classic steam locomotive flying the British flag, is depicted with attention to detail and the engineering aesthetics of the time. In front of it, people in 19th-century clothing gather, their gestures and looks expressing delight and curiosity. This crowd is not just a decoration, but a symbol of public participation and the historical significance of the event.

George Stephenson's portrait is painted with dignity and respect. He does not dominate the scene, but complements it - as a calm observer who has left his mark on history.

The background, with autumn trees and warm colors, adds depth and coziness, and the inscriptions are balanced and clearly legible, without disturbing the visual harmony. The presence of the “PHILAKOREA 2025” logo suggests international recognition and participation in the global philatelic dialogue.

The stamps are not only technically precise, but also artistically inspired — a combination of documentary and emotion, making them valuable to collectors and visual art lovers alike.

The special postage stamp used for the validation complements the anniversary nature of the issue, marking the historical significance of rail transport to society. The event highlighted the importance of philately as a cultural and historical medium.
