ПревюRoyal Mail has unveiled a new collection of special stamps marking the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. With this release, the British postal service pays tribute to one of the most influential and beloved cinematic sagas of modern times—an epic that continues to inspire audiences across generations.

The fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien in the 1950s found renewed global fame in 2001 with the premiere of The Fellowship of the Ring. The film’s success launched an award‑winning trilogy and paved the way for an expanded franchise that now includes The Hobbit prequel films, the ongoing Rings of Power television series, and the upcoming Andy Serkis–directed feature The Hunt for Gollum, expected next year.

The new Royal Mail stamp series features eight main stamps portraying iconic characters from the trilogy. Among them are Sir Ian McKellen as the wise wizard Gandalf, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Orlando Bloom as the elf Legolas, and Elijah Wood as the hobbit Frodo Baggins. The collection also includes depictions of Pippin Took (Billy Boyd), Merry Brandybuck (Dominic Monaghan), and the late Sir Christopher Lee as the dark wizard Saruman.

Complementing the main set is a miniature sheet with four additional stamps showcasing some of Middle‑earth’s most memorable locations. These include the peaceful Shire, the fiery Mount Doom, the elegant elven refuge of Rivendell, and the monumental statues of Argonath. A particularly intriguing detail is the inclusion of hidden Elvish inscriptions, visible only under UV light and shaped like the inscription on the One Ring—a subtle nod to Tolkien’s lore.

Created in collaboration with Warner Bros Discovery Global Consumer Products, each stamp proudly bears the official logo of the film series. Representatives from Royal Mail emphasize that The Lord of the Rings remains one of the most iconic film trilogies ever made, and that the new stamps celebrate its lasting cultural impact. Warner Bros adds that the collection captures the spirit, artistry, and cinematic legacy that continue to resonate with fans a quarter of a century later.

The stamps and accompanying collectible products will be available for pre‑order starting 11 March, with general sales beginning on 20 March.
