ПревюA postage stamp on the theme "100 years of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Education in Bulgaria" was validated today, October 13, 2023, at a special ceremony at Thracian University - Stara Zagora. The event was part of the program of the twelfth edition of the National Veterinary Exhibition BULVETMEDIKA 2023.

The validation ceremony of the philatelic edition was attended by the head of the Stara Zagora Regional Post Office - Mrs. Daniela Georgieva, the author of the artistic image - Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov, Prof. Ivan Bozhkov - Rector of Thrace University for the term 1995-1999, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Todor Stoyanchev.

The idea for creating the postage stamp comes in conjunction with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, recalled Dean Prof. Todor Stoyanchev. The goal is to preserve the symbols of the faculty and its history for the future.

The postage stamp is a symbol, and this one is unique for several reasons, said Assoc. Prof. Nenko Atanasov - artist and designer of the stamp. "The first is that this is perhaps the only one dedicated to a faculty in Bulgaria. There are no boundaries for the stamp, it is an ambassador who I wish to glorify the Thracian University, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medicine," said Assoc. Prof. Atanasov.

He explained that he wanted to come up with something simple as a graphic, but saturated with symbols, the goal being to praise one of the most important things - the attitude towards animals. "The blue cross - a symbol of veterinary medicine and humane treatment of animals is part of the design of the stamp, which will arouse great interest from philatelists," the artist admitted. At the bottom there is also a vignette, which has no value, and an envelope is also printed.

A limited edition of the stamp, stamped with the original Bulgarian Post stamp, was exhibited at a special stand, and each guest of the exhibition had the opportunity to purchase a unique copy of this valuable acquisition with timeless philatelic value.
