Additional information:The stamps were sold from September 12 to September 30, 1902 and were valid until September 30, 1902 for posting letter correspondence only for the interior of Bulgaria, Russia and Serbia. 65-67 are printed with two types of photo clichés for each value, arranged scattered in the printing form with almost equal repeatability. The following features are evident in the type of type: 5 st. - under the letter "DN" the inscription "D1EYNOVO" there is a small dash, and the banner of the digit "5" of the nominal value is curved; 10 Art. - in the left corner of the ornament under the year "1902" (above, to the right of the mark), there is a white spot; 15 Art. - the line of the right outer frame, under the letter "P" of "DECEMBER", is broken. For type II, for all values, the indicated defects are missing, and the banner of the figure of the nominal value at 5 st. is equal. From 65-67 there are also without serration, as well as without serration on one side, and from 66 - a pair, between without perforation. The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the battles at the Shipka Pass (the Shipka Epopee) was combined with the consecration of the temple-monument at the village of Shipka and were held from 16 to 19 September 1902. The series was actually conceived to mark the exploits of the Bulgarian volunteers during the Russo-Turkish War in 1877 and that is why the stamps marked the dates of the three major battles of the Bulgarian volunteers with the Turkish troops: at the Shipka Pass, Stara Zagora and Sheinovo. However, the painting by A. N. Popov was mistakenly chosen as the subject of the stamps, as it shows the actions of the Russian soldiers at the Eagles Nest, and not of the Bulgarian volunteers. Corrections have been made to the detail of the painting depicted on the stamp by removing some figures of participants. There are fakes. |
