📝 Additional Information ▼
The stamps were ordered on 20.VIII.1909, almost immediately after the recognition of Bulgaria as an independent kingdom. Out of 90, about 32 (±) pieces with an inverted stotinkaer (the so-called "Inverted Cavalry") are known, see illustration on the cover. All are stamped with the date stamp "Plovdiv No. 1" in the period 25 May - 7 July 1913, with the exception of one copy with a "silent" stamp at the station and one copy with the date stamp "Gyumurdzhina". Out of 83 there are stamps in the color of 84, out of 84 there are stamps with a double frame. Out of 82-90 there are stamps without perforation on one of the sides. There are stamps with mirror prints on the reverse. Of all values, darker or lighter shades are found. Of all values, there are samples printed in original colors on cardboard measuring 5x8 cm, resp. 8x5 cm, with the Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. company mark. The series was put into use on the 50th anniversary of Tsar Ferdinand, February 1-14, 1911, and the plots point to a connection between the independent Bulgarian kingdom declared on September 22, 1908, and the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. As well as the progress of beautiful Bulgaria in cultural and industrial terms during the reign of Tsar Ferdinand I. The initials are placed on the stamps: "GEI" (Georgi Evstagiev Ivanov) - on 82, 83, 85, 86, 88, 89,93; "AM" (Anton Mitov) - on 84, 87,91, 92; "YAV" (Yaroslav Veshin) - on 90. It is believed that these are the initials of the artists who painted the original views and portraits chosen for the stamp subjects. For 85, 86 and 88, photographs seem to have been used, because on the second edition of 1915 the initials "GEI" on the same subjects are missing. There is an opinion that the decorative frames of the stamps are the work of X. Tachev. On two of the sides of the postal sheets, on the millesims, "Ministere des Finanses de la Bulgarie" is printed in gray. With the same subjects 105-111, 167-168, 174 and 175. 82-88 with overprints, see 97-103 and 104.
