ПревюSince her creation in 1959, Barbie has held a constant place in cultural history as a symbol of dreams, imagination, and the freedom to become anything one desires. Born in the world of Mattel as “The Original Teenage Fashion Model” the doll quickly surpassed her initial role and evolved into a global phenomenon. For more than six decades, she has inspired generations of children to dream boldly, embodying over 250 professions throughout the years - from surgeon and astronaut to paleontologist, soccer player, and sign language teacher.

This rich history and strong cultural influence now find new expression in philately through a special issue by the United States Postal Service - a series of 10 postage stamps dedicated to Barbie and her many professional transformations. To highlight the diversity of these iconic roles, USPS and Mattel selected an uncommon format: vertical stamps that are one‑third taller than the standard commemorative size. Art director Ethel Kessler describes the creative process as one approached “with a spirit of fun,” using bright, energetic colors - especially the signature Barbie Pink - to evoke a sense of joy and vibrancy.

The stamp pane will be officially released on July 11, 2026, during the National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention in Austin, Texas. As Forever stamps, they will retain a value equal to the current First‑Class Mail 1‑ounce rate, regardless of future price changes. Each of the ten stamps features an authentic Barbie outfit from a specific era, photographed by Mattel, turning the issue into a visual archive of the doll’s evolution.

Beyond its philatelic appeal, the series carries significant cultural meaning. It reinforces the message Barbie has conveyed for more than 65 years: that every girl can choose her own path and become anything she wishes. USPS amplifies this message through special pictorial cancellations and a first‑day‑of‑issue event open to collectors, fans, and the general public.
